About the Founder

Milton Clipper

Milton Clipper's career in management spans over 40 years in the media industry. In 2015 he retired after serving as the founding President & CEO of Atlanta Educational Telecommunications Collaborative, the managing arm of Public Broadcasting Atlanta (PBA). Starting in 1995, under Milt’s leadership these struggling Public Broadcasting TV and National Public Radio stations grew to be among the best in the country. Milt changed the dynamics of the entire organization and revamped it to be more efficient, more inclusive with staff, programming and community relations. Membership increased dramatically and the stations became self-sustaining. He believed in creating partnerships that were a win-win for all.

Prior to his successful run with PBA, his first introduction into media was with Post NewsWeek (Washington Post, WTOP TV and WJXT TV). After almost twenty years with Post NewsWeek, Milt left to run his own successful advertising agency that served national companies that included CBS Corp., Black Entertainment Television, Coors Brewery, District of Columbia Government, Edmondson and Gallagher Group, WUSA-TV and many others. Years later he returned to the media industry to oversee membership, marketing and creative services for WHMM (now WHUT), Howard University’s Public Broadcasting Station (PBS).

After Milt’s retirement, he was inspired to use his unique leadership style and strategic marketing skills to establish the consulting service, Clipper and Company. It focuses on effectively changing how organizations think about diversity and strategic planning architecture from the bottom up. Clipper and Company has a strong emphasis on building diversity and closing the digital divide, with a concentration on long term financial sustainability.

“We focus on the four vital threads that run through all successful organizations: a sound strategic architecture, financial stability, diversity and innovation,” says Milt Clipper. These important processes make up the comprehensive concept Collective Strategic Thinking, or CST — developed to instill a powerful innovative culture for constant improvement and success. He also serves as a consultant to the NETA Consulting (National Educational Telecommunications Association) to provide executive recruiting and Business strategy services for public media licensees and related organizations.

To add to Milt’s experience, he has been invited to various international cities as an “Opinion Leader.” He is presently on the FCC Diversity and Inclusion Working Committee, Atlas Performing Arts Center board and serves as Board Chair of Integrity CDC. Milt is a member of Leadership Atlanta, Rotary Atlanta and has served on the boards of Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Oglethorpe University, Atlanta College of Art, Consumer Credit Counseling Services, Junior Achievement, Public Radio International, American Public Television Stations, and past Chairman of the Integrated Media Association. He has participated on national and international panels for NASA and has had several published reports.

Milt attended Montgomery College and the Corcoran School of Art. Milton earned a Cornell University Diversity and Inclusion Certificate and has been the recipient of numerous awards throughout his career.
